About Us and Our Mission

As we pulled up the gravel road to a little wooden farmhouse surrounded by fields of corn, our excitement grew as the car finally came to a stop. We jumped out of the car and waited very impatiently to see our little black curly haired toy poodle run down to us. I didn’t know he was going to affect my life so much, but he did. From him being a then eight weeks old puppy to him growing into a fully-fledged two-year-old dog, we have grown together.  

I have been diagnosed with anxiety and depression since the second grade and have struggled with it all my life. I have struggled to push through panic attacks and stressful situations by myself. I tried therapy, medications, and all-natural pathways, but never found the right fit. I still struggled with anxiety and my depression was still an issue.

When Astro came into our lives, he took up a lot of time that I didn’t realize I needed to provide for him. He wanted to play constantly and always wanted to go on walks. Someone might think that's annoying or too time consuming but, I still enjoy every minute of it to this day. Through the snuggling and play time I realized that I was thinking about my own anxiety and problems. He distracted me from the harsh realities of real life with a little wiggle from his tail.

One day, I saw my uncle playing with Astro in the backyard smiling and laughing as he retrieved Nerf gun bullets to fetch with. My uncle has overcome many mental barriers to be where he is today from his time serving in the Vietnam War and just seeing him play with Astro brightened his mood.

I thought to myself: What if I can provide a place where we can support veterans while incorporating dogs as well? I give you…drum roll please…ASTRO’s FLAGS! 

Named after the little toy poodle that changed my anxiety for the better, we donate a percentage of our sales to K9’s For Warriors who supports veterans and their endeavors.

We want to give back to individuals who have supported our country and continue to do so every day. What is a better way to support America than hand-sewing American flags that show our pride and love for this great country.

We want our customers to feel united under our flag whether it be four legged or two legged.
